EVENTS 2010

THE DORK CONVENTION

QLD Younbgloods and NextGen (Brisbane’s media crowd) recently held a joint ‘Dork Convention’ at the luxe new bar White Lotus in Brisbane’s edgy West End. Dorks were plentiful and kitted up in the latest ‘Dork Attire’ which sparked many conversations and networking opportunities all fuelled through our inaugural book swap. Many books traded hands over the course of the evening and the smarties of the group even managed to exchange their books with the bar staff for drinks! The DJs beats kept the party going until all hours of the morning. Check out QLD YBs Facebook page to see the pics from the night.

Dorks Convention

Dork [Dawrk]
-noun (Slang)
1. One that is socially and fashionable out of touch – a library lounger
2. One that sucks up to industry professionals at Youngbloods events
3. One more likely to make rad contacts, get ahead, and get a j.o.b.

Dork Convention.
It’s time to tape up your glasses, wear your pants high (like armpit high) and step out in the night with your fellow dorks. No longer will we hide in libraries – instead, we’ll take over trendy cocktail lounges!

WHO ARE THE YOUNGBLOODS?

Youngbloods is a group of individuals in the advertising, marketing, media and communications industries. The group is made up of Brisbane’s top young guns, influencing and driving the face of the communications industry. Youngbloods is a platform for young professionals to climb the ladder, socialise, build a network, learn from business leaders, and to have a voice within the industry.

BECOME A YOUNGBLOOD

Anyone under the age of 30, working in advertising, media, marketing and communications can become a Youngblood. Final year students studying in these fields are also welcome!

Membership is free and you will be informed with industry news, educational events and social networking opportunities that the Youngbloods run throughout each year.

Becoming a member is simple; click here or email the QLD Youngbloods Chairpersons Mark Krebs or Tyneal Alexander.

HOW ELSE CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Youngbloods has a core committee made up of Brisbane’s most ambitious and driven. The committee is responsible for planning and scheduling events, pursuing sponsorship and public relations opportunities, building the membership base and more importantly deciding the future of Youngbloods itself.

If you are interested in becoming a member or an agency representative, please contact Mark Krebs for more information.
