ANNUAL WINTER PARTY
Coming off the back of a great 2009 Winter Party, 2010 proved that if you keep the venue exciting, the food tasty and the drinks flowing, the party takes care of itself. This year, the Winter Party moved to Tatlers, in Darlinghurst, and if you know it, you know that it’s an exclusive venue that never disappoints and has something for everyone. This year, on top of Stopgap’s generous support, Youngbloods also invited Vitamin Water to be a part of the evening, with beautiful people giving away free drinks, wheeling (literally) and dealing out prizes. They were also pretty handy on the DF. On top of everything, $500 worth of David Jones vouchers were won by two lucky people, to spend on anything and everything! Stay tuned for our next event, later in the year!

WINNING THE PITCH WITH JON STEEL
On Wednesday 16 June, Jon Steel, Vice Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of GPY&R, managed to turn a cavernous room into something resembling a tightly packed tin of sardines. Jon generously agreed to spend 50% of his (two) evenings in Sydney to come and share some of his presentation skills and new business pitching expertise with over 130 Youngbloods members. His experiences of the industry and his proficiency at winning new business has led him to author “Truth, Lies and Advertising” and “Perfect Pitch – The Art of Selling New Ideas and Winning New Business”. The evening was definitely a rare opportunity and the lessons learned that night, without a doubt, will prove useful throughout the careers of many present.
If you missed out on this sold out event, make sure to keep an eye out for the next event in your inbox.

WHYBIN\TBWA PRESENT: ART©
Over 400 Advertising enthusiasts gathered at the Palace Academy Twin in Paddington for the Whybin\TBWA & Youngbloods showing of ‘the’ industry must-see, Art&Copy. The turnout was impressive and the film even more so.
Art &Copy encapsulates all that is right, wrong and undeniably beautiful about the industry, humbly referenced to in the film as 'Art serving Capitalism'. The film was magnificent in its art direction, not that its viewers would expect anything less, and the story was set up in a way that kept us all dreaming of possibilities with our feet on the ground.
Youngbloods and The Communications Council would like to say a huge thank you to WhybinTBWA for making our wish their command; and to all 400 plus people who came to support creativity and great ideas. It was just the tonic the industry needed.

Open House | 'BrandMe'
NSW Youngbloods has kicked off the year with an event aimed at helping its members take control of their career. Special guest Claire Owens, Leader of Vision & Values at Stopgap, spoke to the importance of building a personal, unique brand, both socially and professionally. Whether it's something as simple as greeting people upon arrival at work in the morning or as involved as building a credible and recognisable network on a professional networking site, such as LinkedIn. The goal of the night was for each person to take away something that would help them in their efforts to build their career. Feedback from the night suggests that it was a complete success and a great time was had by all.

In other news, NSW Youngbloods also conducted a brief survey to find out exactly what it was that its members want. As an added bonus for competing the survey, there was a $100 Red Balloon voucher up for grabs. The winner of the voucher was Melanie Thorne. Congratulations! Keep an eye on your inbox for the next Youngbloods event.
EVENTS 2009
Trivia Night | Short & Curly 2009
As always, the Annual Trivia Night was a great way to finish off the year. Al Crawford (Head of Planning, Clemenger BBDO) generously played host for the second time and as with his last dash, kept it light and entertaining and for those hecklers out there, slightly degrading, which is always fun to watch.
The drinks were many, the questions easy, then ridiculously hard, then easy and the singing atrocious - good times! In true inappropriate fashion, the winning table was Two Groups, One Cup, who earned themselves a bar tab, which they generously shared with everybody.

Open House | Controversial Commericals with Fiona Jolly, Errol Flanagan & Matty Burton
On Thursday, 15 October, NSW Youngbloods invited Fiona Jolly (CEO, Ad Standards Bureau), Errol Flanagan (Strategy & Innovation Manager, Yello) and Matty Burton (Creative Director, Droga5) to Mojo to host an evening of controversy based on advertising standards in Australia.
At various points throughout the evening, our panellists gave their opinions on the reasoning behind the ads being banned or challenged, as well as offering up some great insights into the possible creative & strategic thinking behind them.
The setting was casual & the mood tangible according to the ads, froms tense & creepy, to sexy & light-hearted. Everybody appeared to have a great time, which is easy to do in this industry when you're watching & discussing entertaining & controversial ads over drinks.

NSW Youngbloods | Annual Winter Party
It's official, the 2009 NSW Youngbloods Winter Party was a complete success! Entering Kit & Kaboodle to be greeted by a large Youngbloods ice sculpture, it was immediately clear that the drinks were flowing, the music was going off and the bar on fire (literally)- it was definitely going to be a night to remember. The smooth stylings of Yogi & Husky (Random Soul) and Scotty Sax, combined with the fire breathing flair bar show of Leeroy and Robbie from Twisted Liquid marked just a couple of the memorable moments experienced.
Thanks to our sponsors Stopgap and B & T we were able to give away some great prizes to 3 lucky winners and thanks to 2threads the night was captured in full through the many photos taken. The night was a great success making it a memorable Winter Party.
